Heart Shaped Sugared Scones for Valentines...Or Any Time!

An easy way to add a little love to breakfast is with heart shaped scones.

I use Rhodes frozen bread (either white or whole wheat). Allow the dough to thaw long enough to roll out thin - about 1/4" - on a lightly floured surface (don't allow the dough to rise and if you're in a hurry use the directions on the package to thaw in the microwave). Use heart cookie cutters to cut out shapes; I used two small sizes for fun. Fry in approximately 2" safflower, sunflower or canola oil on medium heat (adjusting the temperature as necessary), turning once. Remove from pan (using an all-metal utensil) and place onto paper towels to absorb some of the oil, then immediately place in a pan or dish containing sugar, cover top with additional sugar until nicely coated. Enjoy them warm!

Serving suggestions: butter, cinnamon butter, honey, favorite jelly or jam, peanut butter.

I like to keep them small and fun!
(It also helps to keep the cute heart shape.)
