Room of the Week: Stunning and Perfectly Balanced Kitchen

For this week's room of the week I'm sharing this stunning London kitchen by Humphrey Munson who design and handcraft beautiful bespoke kitchens.

Practical design with contemporary lines and color palette, combined with warm wood and brass accents, provide the perfect balance in this wonderfully bright kitchen.  There is a pleasing symmetry to this kitchen that makes you feel comfortable and right at home!

It's the perfect combination of the color palette and finishes that grabbed my attention.  I love the way the bold color palette of black and grey are softened with accents of natural smoked oak and antique brass. They add warmth to the space, giving the area a cozy welcoming feeling.

The absence of upper cabinets at this end of the kitchen increases the open plan feel and enhances the sense of light and space that pours in through the skylight and window.

The gorgeous range canopy is the focal point of the kitchen. Painted in the same bold black as the island, it helps to anchor the entire design.  To give a soft airy feel, an antiqued distressed mirror was used as the backsplash; a unique idea that I love. Other than directly behind the range, there is no other backsplash.

The island provides essential storage and extra seating, the perfect gathering spot for family.  To keep valuable counter space free from clutter the appliances are integrated into the cabinets.

I love the choice of brass hardware.
Here are a few options to look at for a similar bin pull:

Bridging tall cabinets on two sides of the room balance the kitchen. They contain two pantry cupboards as well as the integrated column fridge and freezer.

Continuing the same materials and color palette into the dining area create an overall unified look and the feeling of a large open space.

Isn't this kitchen beautiful?  The symmetry is designed to create a balanced look, while the detailing is simple to add to the contemporary feel. Combined it's a stunning and perfectly balanced kitchen.

Have a great week!
