As part of the Defining Your Decorating Style Series segment on coastal style decor I posted this week which can be found HERE, I wanted to share a follow-up post with additional inspiration for you. This East Coast home was designed by S.B. Long Interiors.

Coastal style is at its best when it sets a mood, rather than hitting you over the head with its beachiness. This elegantly styled home perfectly illustrates this concept.

Light is important in coastal style. While coastal interiors aren't known for shine and shimmer, a few carefully chosen accents can help to diffuse light even further. The glass chandelier in the dinning area helps to reflect light, yet the room feels casual and sophisticated. You just don't want to bring in so many high-gloss elements that you lose the cozy ambience. This room is perfectly balanced.

Sophisticated uses of a nautical theme is found throughout the home in well-chosen uses of fabrics, flooring and rugs, window treatments and accessories.

This color palette is warm and relaxing.
