I fell in love with the entrance of this home on Lake Kenowee in South Carolina and wanted to highlight it on a home tour.
There is so much to love about the shiplap paneling used throughout this home. Shiplap has been around a long time for use in vernacular homes. Historically, it was formed by boards made from inexpensive materials like pine with a grooved, interlocking "rabbet" edge used on informal buildings like barns, cabins and cottages. Over the last few years, it has made its way into American design from casual to high end homes and we are seeing it everywhere. Shiplap has a clean and timeless look that works in a wide variety of styles and it's a great way to add architectural detail in any room. I have a post coming up in a few weeks with more ways and ideas to use shiplap, but for today get inspired by this beautiful home from Markalunus Architectural Group. Enjoy!
Beautiful!! What do you think? There is so much inspiration to glean. What are the most inspiring elements of this home to you? Have a wonderful week!
