Room of the Week: Traditional Kitchen + Amazing Storage

This Traditional Kitchen was designed by Studio Dearborn Kitchen & Bath Designers for homeowners seeking a smartly designed kitchen as their main goal as part of a major renovation of their Colonial revival home.

While the blue and white decor is soothing, and the space is open and bright lending well to family gatherings and entertaining, it's the inspiring storage ideas that makes this my Room of the Week.

This open kitchen/work area/family room truly combines beauty with smart design, incorporating storage solutions that will surely inspire you!

The kitchen is impressive from every angle, beginning with the cherry wood island with custom espresso stain and open shelves on the end.

The Rohl fireclay apron sink provides beautiful contrast with the dark cabinetry. And what about that faucet?  It is the Kohler Vinnata faucet in polished nickel, and it's striking.

There is a place for everything from a built-in paper towel holder, to a 24" pullout drawer that holds two cans for garbage and recycling, with additional space for storage.

The kitchen was designed to offer a spacious open plan with plenty of island seating and a lot of hidden storage.

Hidden storage like the shallow lap drawers that hide the family's placemats, and a touch latch on the tray storage cabinet door that allows for it to blend into the cabinetry, but provides a nice space for storing trays.

This kitchen is not only very pretty with honed Carrera Marble counters, but also very practical with features like the appliance garage underneath the glass door cabinet.

A custom treatment under the wall cabinets encases puck lighting and a plugmold.

There is ample storage with features like deep drawers, butler's storage, and a tall broom closet located next to the Wolf wall oven and microwave.

Notice the refrigerator! It is the SubZero 36" fully integrated fridge next to the SubZero 27" fully integrated freezer on the left.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a work area with mirrored cabinets on both sides of the desk, and topped with cherry wood stained to match the island.

The smart layout provides for better traffic flow and efficient use of the space. The built-ins in the family room feature cherry wood counters which tie in with the kitchen island, continuing the design flow from one area to the other.

I was so impressed with this beautiful design and hope today's Room of the Week is as inspiring to you as it is to me!

Have a great day!

The best kitchens are the ones that are neat and have an impeccably concise layout of the space. Each corner has its own purpose and each item in the kitchen has its own place and that makes it beautiful!
