Elevate Your Next Dessert with this Dazzling Delicious Berry Trifle




Is it time to elevate your dessert to the next level?  It's easy, literally, with this delicious trifle. Isn't this dazzling? The very best part is that it's equally delicious! Oh, and did I mention that it's easy to put together and doesn't take a lot of time to make?

I have tried several different recipes for trifle and this is my favorite, and definitely my go-to. I've made this recipe using various combinations of berries and fruit, and it's always beautiful and delicious! I thought it would be the perfect time to share this with Mother's Day right around the corner, or just for a delicious and dazzling dessert for any occasion this Spring or Summer.


Here's What You Need:

Berry Trifle
(this recipe fills an 8" large Trifle bowl + a little extra)

 2 pkgs. (8oz.) cream cheese
2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
1-1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 large Angel Food cake

Fresh Berries: 
I use 1 - 16oz. pkg. strawberries, sliced or cut in half (save some whole strawberries for the top)
1 large or 2 small pkgs. each blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries
Or, any selection of berries you prefer

But, I love the petite version for individual servings.  Wouldn't that be darling?!  This petite trifle bowl is from Crate and Barrel. You can purchase 6 to 8 for approximately the same price as a large 8" regular size. You would dazzle your guests with beautiful individual servings. I'm going make mini trifles next time and update this post!


Here's what you do:

Mix the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar, sour cream, vanilla and lemon extracts. Mix well. Put in another bowl and set aside. Whip the heavy cream (do not add any sugar), until thickened. Fold the whipped cream mixture into the cream cheese mixture. Tear apart or cube the Angle Food Cake.

In a glass trifle bowl, make two layers of cake, cream cheese mixture, and berries. Create a dazzling design on your top layer with berries.

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Yield: 8-10 servings.

If your glass bowl is big enough, you can make three layers.


For my first layer of berries I typically like to place the berries individually around the side of the glass bowl first, then finishing covering the cream cheese mixture with half of my berries to make a thick, pretty layer of berries. I had little helpers assemble this trifle - that's how easy it is!
