Enjoy this elegant dessert by the spoonful! You'll love the creamy, whipped texture and white chocolate flavor of this mousse.
I really wanted to make white chocolate mousse for a special dessert for Valentine's this year. After trying several different recipes, I found the perfect combination for a smooth, creamy mousse that's not too stiff! The texture is just right, and it's not complicated to make - the best kind!
MAKES ABOUT 4 CUPS
8 ounces good-quality white chocolate, chopped finely
1-2/3 cups heavy whipping cream
Instructions:
Add white chocolate and 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream in a heavy medium saucepan; stir over low heat just until chocolate is melted.
Immediately transfer chocolate mixture to a large bowl. Let stand until mixture is cool and begins to thicken, stirring occasionally (cool about 30 minutes).
Add remaining 1 cup heavy whipping cream in a separate mixing bowl; beat until stiff peaks form.
Fold into cooled chocolate mixture in 2 additions.
Spoon into dessert dishes; chill at least 2 hours.
This can be made one day ahead. Keep refrigerated.
I filled 9 of my small fine crystal cocktail glasses, which is a perfect portion for a rich dessert after a meal. They look very elegant garnished with a chocolate heart. I'll be sharing how to make these easy-to-make chocolate hearts tomorrow on my blog.
Two delicious variations:
Spoon chocolate mixture over sliced fruit. It's very delicious with strawberries. It's also delicious over crumbled Oreo Cookies.
Garnish with a sliced strawberry, fanned.
Served either way, it's a delicious, creamy dessert that is sure to please!
Come back tomorrow for instructions to make these cute, delicious chocolate heart accents. They're so fun!
