Christmas S'mores, anyone?
If you love melted gooey marshmallow and rich chocolate graham cracker s'mores, then you'll love this festive twist to traditional s'mores! Without a campfire, I should add!
A Christmas Eve tradition we have is going bowling and then coming home for a nice dinner and a few other traditions. It seems the Eve traditions go on throughout the night with family coming and going and I always have seasonal treats around for everyone to enjoy. So, when I saw this recipe from Cafe Delites for Candy Cane Christmas S'mores I had to try it. It's unique to the season and it's so easy - something you can throw together when you're ready to serve it. The best kind!
1 cup chocolate chips (dark, milk or white)
10 large marshmallows
4 candy canes, roughly chopped, reserve some for garnish
Graham Crackers to serve
1) Preheat oven to broil settings on medium heat
2) Add chocolate chips into a well seasoned 6-inch skillet OR non-stick oven proof pan. Melt the chocolate chips over low-medium heat, stirring occasionally, until completely melted. Remove from heat.
3) Sprinkle the chopped candy canes over the chocolate and arrange the marshmallows on top.
4) Place into oven on middle rack and broil for about 5-10 minutes, or until golden and puffed up.
Serve with Graham Crackers
This recipe is delicious but very rich so a little goes a long way. I also cut back just a little on the candy canes. I added three and a bit to the chocolate, and garnished the top with a little. If you really love peppermint, you may choose to use all four.
